BUJA Elections

Our E-board election for 2010-2011, open to all members, will be on Wednesday, April 21^st at 8pm in UU 102. Please send a letter of intent including which position you would like to run for and why to buja.binghamton@gmail.com by Monday the 19^th. Available positions are:

Culture Coordinator

and 2 Co-Event Coordinator positions!

Field Day

We will have a sports event on Saturday, April 24^th from 12-3pm in the CIW field!

Team colors will be pink and green. Games include tamaire, obstacle racing, bread eating, candy hunting, horse war, caterpillar racing, and karimono kyousou (scavenger hunt).

This event is FREE! Winners will get Japanese popsicles!

Nippon Night tomorrow!

Just a quick update--the paper-making workshop has been changed to a workshop on somemono, the art of dyeing cloth.

Also note that admission to this event is completely FREE!

Nippon Night is coming!

There will be plenty of good Japanese food, drinks, desserts and more!

The main dish will be yakisoba--that's Japanese-style fried noodles. Side dishes will be fried dumplings, takoyaki, (Japanese octopus dumplings) and yakitori, which is Japanese BBQ chicken! There will be chocolate bananas for dessert, as well as popsicles, and Calpis (or Calpico) and Ramune (Japanese soft drinks) and Japanese tea will be served!

We will be showing the film "Okuribito," which won the 2009 Oscar for "Best Foreign Language of the Year."

Also, you will have the chance to learn how to make traditional Japanese paper!

All this in The Mohawk Great Room this Friday April 9^th from 6-9pm! 2 tokens for only $1!
