Chanbara
Chanbara (チャンバラ), literally "sword fighting," refers to the sort of staged fighting seen in samurai movies. Showier than sword fighting martial arts like kendo, it is choreographed and performed for your viewing pleasure.Hey Guys!
This is Daniel, your friendly neighborhood BUJA Language Coordinator! By day I run language tables and explain why kanji is hard, but by night I turn into a Martial Arts swordmaster and teach Chanbara, Japanese performance art sword fighting!
This year, BUJA's most famous and exciting re-occuring performance is becoming an official school-sponsered performance group! So come out and join us, learn some swordplay, and maybe perform with us on campus and beyond! Oh, and please just wear something comfortable that you can move in.
Practices are on Saturdays from 2:30-4:30pm.
Hope to see you guys there!
